Intermediate Surf Coaching Camp in South-West France — Video Analysis & In-Water Coaching

The Surf Video Coaching Camp is a one-week surf camp run by Natural Surf Lodge near Seignosse and Hossegor, on the Landes coast of south-west France, for adult surfers at an intermediate to advanced level who want to take a real technical step forward. Sessions take place mainly at Plage des Casernes in Seignosse with Natural Surf School, accredited by the École Française de Surf (EFS), the French Surfing Federation's quality label.

Every session is filmed and reviewed as a group each day: wave reading, positioning and how manoeuvres are executed. Coaching is led by Stéphane, Indhy or Nanook, qualified coaches from Natural Surf School, with a strict maximum of 4 surfers per coach.

    What is the Surf Video Coaching Camp?

    This is our adult surf week most focused on technical progress. Every session is filmed from the beach by a member of the team. Back from the water, the group watches the footage together. Each surfer sees exactly what is holding them back (foot placement, upper body position, take-off, starting a manoeuvre, wave reading) and paddles out next time with clear instructions.

    Depending on your level and needs, in-water coaching can replace the video on some sessions, so corrections happen in real time, in the water. It's a method designed for an immersive surf week at intermediate to advanced level.

    Who is this camp for?

    This camp is only for adult surfers at an intermediate to advanced level: you can catch waves on your own, consistently, paddle back out to the line-up, and start basic manoeuvres.

    Let's be honest: it isn't made for beginners. If you don't yet catch waves on your own regularly, you won't get much out of the video analysis. In that case, our classic Adult Surf Camp is a much better fit.

    In Seignosse, in the Landes region, a few kilometers from Hossegor, accommodations are available at the Natural Surf Lodge (Soustons) or Villa Baïna (Seignosse), depending on the season and availability.

    Stéphane, co-founder, artist, and craftsman at Natural Surf Lodge, is also—and above all—a sports instructor. He is an instructor in the truest sense of the word, as what drives him above all is working with young (and not-so-young) aspiring surfers—from advanced to expert levels—to guide them toward excellence or simply help them improve, drawing on his more than 40 years of experience at the surf spots in Seignosse. He relies on high-quality photo and video equipment and two certifications that allow him to refine his technical analysis: the Federal Coach Certification and the State-Issued Level 2 Surfing Diploma with a coaching specialization.

    He has guided his son, Justin Becret, through the winding and demanding path of competitive surfing. Today, Justin is charting his own course more independently on the WSL Qualifying Series (QS) and Challenger Series (CS) tours, with the goal of reaching the Champion Tour (CT)—the holy grail of professional surfing. Stéphane continues his work as a coach, working not only with the next generation but also with trainees at the Lodge who come—or return—to benefit from his sound advice, paired with his sharp but ultimately kind sense of humor. This is his unique way of drawing out in each person the intrinsic motivation needed for effective progress—allowing them to refine their maneuvers, significantly increase their time riding the waves, and, as a result, have more fun. His surf coaching sessions are therefore designed for motivated surfers at the intermediate, advanced, or even expert levels. Sessions are generally offered on a per-session basis depending on the week’s surf forecast, over two days between Monday and Friday for surfers staying at the Lodge and the Villa, as well as on weekends for local surfers who wish, for example, to prepare for the prerequisites of the BPJEPS surfing certification.

    A member of the Natural Surf School team for several years, Nanook is an experienced surfer, former competitor, and national judge. A renowned instructor known for his ability to quickly identify technical issues and offer simple, effective corrections, he is accustomed to coaching surfers of all ages—in the Landes region in the summer and in the Caribbean in the winter.

    THE NATURAL SURF LODGE
    A renovated farm in the Landes region turned into a surf camp

    Every week from April through November
    Nestled in the heart of nature, the Lodge is a little slice of paradise in the middle of a nature reserve. This small, renovated farm in the Landes region features two private rooms, one family room, and three shared rooms.

    In the middle of this large green space, you’ll find a spacious common area featuring a dining room, a kitchen, a chill-out corner, and other cool amenities. A skate bowl is also available at the Lodge to practice your surfing moves, as well as a spa pool and a steam room to relax between your surfing sessions.

    LA VILLA BAÏNA:

    Located in Seignosse Océan, our Surf House is ideally situated just a 5-minute walk from Penon Beach and Agréou Beach. Villa Baïna features a shared dorm-style room and three private rooms. It has a large common area, a shared kitchen, and an outdoor terrace with a hot tub and swim spa for after your surf session.
