Coming to Natural Surf Lodge is not just about enjoying a tourist holiday. It's about embracing a more respectful and humane approach to travel. Since creating our surf camp in the Landes region, we have chosen to place ethics at the heart of our approach.
We firmly believe that it is possible to enjoy an unforgettable holiday while minimising your impact on the planet. Here, surfing is a pretext for reconnecting: with nature, with others and with yourself.

Surfing and Responsible Tourism: A Natural Fit
The Natural Surf Lodge's identity would not be complete without its eco-friendly approach. This commitment is the foundation of our history, embedded even in our name. Adopting the ‘Natural’ attitude means choosing simplicity: being close to nature, grabbing your board to hit the water, and respecting your environment with the same spontaneity. For us, surfing and protecting nature are two sides of the same passion.
Our support for environmental associations and projects
Beyond words, we are actively involved with organisations committed to protecting the planet. We support local and national associations such as SEPANSO (nature conservation in south-western France), DMA (aquatic environment protection) and the NGO BLOOM (ocean conservation and sustainable fishing).
As signatories to the Pays Atlantique Landes Océanes Sustainable Tourism Charter, each of our investment or improvement decisions is guided by the ‘4 Rs’ rule: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Recreate.
With a long-term vision, the company is actively participating in the ecological transition towards more resilient models. We are working alongside the Compagnie des Grands Arbres (CGA) on permatourism and wooden board manufacturing projects, as well as with the Groupement Forestier des Grands Pins to preserve the future for our children.
Our concrete actions on a daily basis
At the surf camp and school, our philosophy translates into tangible actions:
- Beach clean-ups
In partnership with the Project Rescue Ocean association, we apply the rule ‘One session = 1 piece of rubbish’. Students and instructors participate by bringing any rubbish they find on the sand back to the hut. - Green mobility
Trainees are transported to the surf spots in a 9-seater electric van. - Resource management at the hut
Electricity is provided by a solar panel and water consumption is limited to what is strictly necessary. - Sustainable equipment
We prioritise purchasing boards and wetsuits from local businesses or artisans. We extend the life of our equipment through careful repairs or recycling with associations. - Zero waste & recycling
Waste sorting is the norm and we have stopped distributing paper flyers in favour of QR codes and sustainable information boards.
Eco-responsibility is a constantly evolving process. We are not perfect, but every year we try to get a little closer to this ideal.

Our affiliation with the French Surfing Federation
Titulaire du label officiel, le Natural Surf s'inscrit pleinement dans la démarche écosurf. Nous appuyons concrètement les travaux de la commission éco-surf, qu'il s'agisse de la sensibilisation à l'impact environnemental du surfeur ou de la promotion de l'éco-construction. Fidèles à cet engagement, nous reversons annuellement un don à une association de protection de la nature, choisie en concertation avec l'ensemble de notre équipe.
