Summer throne of the Natural Surf School, Casernes’ beach in Seignosse is a consistent and incontournable spot of south coastline of Landes. It offers quality sand banks in a natural and wild environment to surfers from all places.
Quality beach breaks and chill out atmosphere
We love our beach Les Casernes. It’s a long an wide trench of sand that is protected from too much crowd in the summer time as you need to walk about 500 meters from the parking lot to reach it. The walk among the pine trees worth the surf. There is always a sand bank that will work for beginner or expert surfers depending of the tide. Last beach north of Seignosse, you can always find an uncrowded break further north. From May til end of September, the Natural Surf School settles there, when facing the ocean on your right you can’t miss it. Bewatched swimming zone in July and August makes it a safe place for family beach holidays.
Peacefull beach breaks have a price : walking to the surf
Even in the summer months, Casernes’ beach is much appreciated for its preserved and quite environment. After 300 meters walk along the pine trees, up the dune, take in the big blue and the endless beaches of South West France. Landes coastline and beaches offer quality sandbanks but also strong rip currents locally named baïne rip. The ocean and the beach must be understood as a big playground, not dangerous but implying local environment knowledge that we will be happy to transmitt through our surf lessons.

The surf course is appropriate to explain how the local Landes coastline is working and presents the ocean and its waves like a huge playground where the surfer will learn how to play safely in it rather than be scared about it. Understanding the local environment is the heart of learning to surf, observation being the key to act appropriatly and avoid accidents.

Depending on the season, ocean and weather conditions, the beach atmosphere varies from frenetic on perfect surfing days, family, friendly or festive on tuesday traditionnal beach BBQ nights ! Go for a surf before the kebab is grilled or enjoy apéritif watching the sunset.
